Hey! 👋
So - like many of you - I’ve spent the bulk of my career working as a solo marketer or in very small teams.
It’s a lonely existence. Responsibility for owning a function, proving its value to the executive team and carving out a meaningful career is a lot for one person to carry on their shoulders.
And I know I’m not alone. Hundreds of other sole marketers have reached out to me over the years asking for advice on how to not feel so… alone.
Cue Karaoke, a new online community I’ve launched with Marc Thomas for solo B2B marketers*.
Our goal is simple - to create a slice of the internet filled with communication professionals who know what it’s like to work independently and can lift each other up.
From day one, members will have the opportunity to build their functions alongside other solo marketers, get a sounding board on ideas, learn from others and - hopefully - make some new friends.
Over time you can also expect to benefit from:
Weekly virtual co-working sessions
Clarity Councils - opportunities to brainstorm ideas and get immediate feedback
Monthly courses and frameworks on how to be an effective solo marketer
And a whole calendar of online (and maybe IRL) events
Here’s some more information.
FAQ
How Do I Sign Up?
If we were a startup, I guess you could say we are in ‘stealth’.
We’ve already welcomed a few founding members into the community to help build out our codes of conduct and a content roadmap. Our plan is to open doors to cohorts of 20-30 individuals at a time, starting in early January.

*What Does Solo Mean?
In the classic sense, solo means one person.
But it's not always that straightforward: a lot of the time solo marketers are actually running small teams. That could include juniors or even seniors. But they're doing the majority of the strategy or advocacy within the company.
Honestly, you're as solo as you feel.
What's With All the Karaoke References?
Simple. Marc and I - who started this community - shared a wonderful evening in Dublin trying to get marketers at a conference to all take part in Karaoke.
Unfortunately, it was a busted flush.
But still: don't you feel like there are a lot of parallels between standing with a mic in your hand at the karaoke booth and being a solo marketer?
Everyone's watching you. You're nervous. You feel awkward. But here's the thing - everyone wants you to succeed.
That's what Karaoke Community is about. We’re doing it alone but want a room full of people to support.
