Like a Phoenix, Rising from the Ashes
B2B Bite is back - and things are a little different this time around.
Hi! 👋
Welcome to the 157 people who have signed up during my self-imposed hiatus! This is the B2B Bite - your portal into a realm where marketing helps PE-backed companies win new business instead of just making decks look pretty.
Not a subscriber? Let’s fix that.
OK, ok.
It’s been a hot minute since you last heard from me - at least in newsletter form.
Approximately 2 months, 5 days, 14 hours and 32 seconds to be exact (this is 100% not exact).
Some of you have never had the pleasure of my emails tickling your inbox. You subscribed during my self-imposed hiatus. (hi!)
Truth is… I got a little bit lazy. And confused. And hungry?
Keeping up a cadence of one 1,000+ word newsletter each and every week - plus a podcast side dish and all the trimmings on social media - got me questioning “what’s the point in all of this?”
Not in like an existential, quarter-life-crisis kind of way.
More of a am-I-actually-delivering-value-without-burning-myself-out? kind of way.
So… I just stopped. And that’s OK. Taking a break is 100% OK.
But I’m back. And glad to be here.
Things are going to be a little bit different this time around.
I’m not committing to a publishing frequency. If I have something interesting to say, you’ll hear it.
I’m spending less than 2% of my time on design. It’s not my strength and I’m sure it doesn’t add that much value to your experience.
I’m a classic over-engineer. Give me too much time and I’ll tweak a piece to death. Future emails will be to-the-point and 500 words or less.
What can you expect in terms of content? Well, I’ve got a bunch of ideas on some classic mature B2B marketing brain teasers I can’t wait to share.
But there are also some wild cards on taking big swings, parenting a three-year-old that’s OK with being weird, and why Warren Buffet may just be the OG content marketer to discuss with you as well.
Essentially I’m approaching this new format almost like a journal. Except that journal will be sent to approx 2,556 people and counting. Which is ****ing terrifying.
But like my Gran always said - “a life spent with your butt clenched 50% of the time is a life well lived.”
So let’s do it.
Did you know I’m a professionally trained thespian?
I hated monologues during my three years of drama study. All eyes on me? No thank-you. So let’s make this a dialogue. What kind of things do you want to talk about?
Drop me an email with your burning questions on how to win in B2B.
If this doesn’t sound like what you signed up for, I totally understand. I wouldn’t be happy if I ordered some tacos and they brought me a pineapple pizza. Who would?
(Seriously, who wants fruit on their pizza? WHO?!)
If you’d prefer to jump off the train now, just hit the button in the footer of this email. You will be missed.
🎙️ Every week, I sit down with a kick-ass B2B marketer to discuss how they are changing the game around winning new business. Here’s the most recent interview.
Where Marketing Falls Short of Private Equity Expectations w/ Krista Morgan
We talk about what marketing metrics Private Equity investors scrutinise while evaluating an investment, the expectations of the modern-day B2B buyer and where Krista feels B2B organisations fall short in capitalising on a new GTM opportunity.
